Vegesonic

In this product design, carbon fiber is an interactive system custom-wrapped around speakers. Acting as a capacitive sensor, the carbon fiber reacts to proximity to produce different pitches in sound.

One carbon fiber system is covered in growing mycelium. As mushrooms continue to cover the object, the sound changes, as the fungus interferes with the capacitance..

Another is wrapped around a melon which slowly rots over time. As bacterial liquid seeps from the melon, it comes into contact with the carbon fiber and changes the capacitance.
