Project Name: Light Box
Location: Harvard GSD
Scope: Interactive installation, 2008
The network of thirteen display cases are triggered by an ascending order of behaviours: locally sensed human proximity, and pre-programmed global patterns. Each box had its own LED array, a proximity sensor, and a microprocessor with a unique ID. Initial tests were determined to establish minimum and maximum lighting levels for human perception, and differing pulse patterns to suggest a curation of content. Global patterns, such as coordinated waves, were set to be displayed after a certain number of cycles passed without human interaction.
