Kashin
This 24”x24” interactive panel was commissioned for the Drawing Codes exhibition, exhibited at the Cooper Union and the UVA.
Kashin is the name of the supernatural that guard Korean homes (家神).
The axonometric projection - invented in Asia as seen in Moghul miniature paintings and Chinese landscape scrolls - dissects a closed figure with a half-pipe base, a cubic body, from which a spiky crown brings down light. Behind the static drawing is a deeper world of monsters rendered as a holographic image. The image reveals more behind the drawing as the viewer moves.
