The Heterotopial

Displayed at the second Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, 2019.

Heterotopias hold unique relationships to the city. They reflect civil and social order at the same time as they pervert or unsettle the established power relationships among entities.

This particular city, made of London, Paris, and Tokyo, is representative of megapolii. As waters and temperatures inevitably rise, a new form of eco-segregationist settlement will occur. To preserve their way of life, citizens of wealth and power will build miniature worlds. Initially, they will replicate existing models of greatest real estate value at the top. But once water rise to flood large areas, these worlds will unmoor and new social scenarios will develop.
